Commercial Work

I work to combine modern and adaptive designs that meet the client's needs and reflect their vision. I pride myself on an innovative approach to design, using the latest technology and materials to create spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.

01

Multi-Use Commercial Development

The design of a multi-use building in Sarasota, Florida combines the charm of a beachy theme with the functionality and versatility required for a diverse range of spaces. Inspired by the natural beauty of the coastal landscape, the design aims to create a serene and inviting environment that seamlessly integrates the urgent care center, restaurant, and event space with rooftop area.

The primary goal is to evoke a sense of tranquility and relaxation, reminiscent of a day spent by the beach. The color palette takes cues from the surrounding environment, with shades of teal mirroring the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico, while hints of linen reflect the warm, sun-drenched sand.

Through the seamless integration of the urgent care center, restaurant, event space, and rooftop area, visitors can escape the ordinary and immerse themselves in a beachy haven. The delicate balance of shells, teal hues, and linen textures evokes the beauty of the nearby shoreline, leaving a lasting impression of tranquility and delight.

Steelcase Next Challenge

The new NEXT Design office in Dallas, Texas, takes inspiration from the vibrant local street art scene, infusing bold colors and dynamic forms throughout the space. NEXT is committed to creating an environment where workers not only excel but also thrive, with a focus on fostering creativity and inspiration.

Materials have been thoughtfully curated to complement the street art theme, which helps to create an urban and raw aesthetic. The spatial design is rooted in community and inclusion with a mixture of closed and open areas that provide versatility for various work styles. Open spaces encourage collaboration and spontaneity, promoting connectivity among team members. Enclosed spaces offer quiet retreats for focused work, contributing to the overall well-being of the employees. These spaces are not only divided physically but also visually through the strategic use of contrasting colors and materials.

Just as Victory Park pulses with life and energy beside the American Airlines Center, this office will be a hub of innovation and artistic expression, reflecting the dynamic spirit of Dallas and its emerging workforce. NEXT is a company where innovation and artistic expression flow freely while fostering the boundless potential of the next generation.

Sakura Spa Japanese Bath House

Japanese public bathing has existed for centuries. Private baths in homes were not common until modern times, so public bathhouses were created, filling a need for providing hygiene in communities. Japanese culture is steeped in ritual, and ritual is an integral part of public bathhouses.

While they served the necessary function of providing facilities for cleaning the body, the design and amenities in public bathhouses also provided a place for relaxation. Patrons could experience a cleansing of both body and mind while also experiencing a sense of community. The experience of bathing in a public bathhouse is at least as important as, if not more important than, the result of cleaning the body.

Greenville Five Forks Library

A library is traditionally considered to be a building with books, where reading and research can be conducted in quiet and solitude. However, due to the abundance of information that can be accessed electronically from anywhere, that can no longer be a library’s sole function if it is to remain relevant in modern society. To thrive, a library needs to transform itself into a community center of sorts, where people of all ages can come together to collaborate and interact in a comfortable and uplifting environment. The re-design of the central core of the Five Forks Library meets this need, providing spaces that serve distinct purposes, both social and intellectual. However, the spaces flow easily from one to the next, with physical barriers erected only where necessary. The furnishings are curvilinear, the organic shapes inspired by the beauty of the natural environment. Likewise, the color palette is reflective of the Foothills, only more saturated and exaggerated: the fiery orange of a sunset, the smoky purple of mountain fog, the light green of new leaves, the intense blue of the sky. The flooring and shelving materials give a nod to the rock and wood of the mountains, grounding the space with neutral color and texture. The core space is both soothing and energetic at the same time. All furnishings and materials were thoughtfully selected for durability and ease of maintenance. The Greenville Five Forks Library re-design project retains the best of what a library is and updates it in such a way that it meets the ever-changing needs of the community that it serves.
